David Owen FCMA
Managing Director (& STEM Ambassador)

David is a Chartered Management Accountant. He was appointed to the Board in March 2012. In addition to his responsibilities as Managing Director, David is directly responsible for leading the Finance & Logistics functions. Working alongside his Board colleagues, David also leads the derivation & implementation of the Company's Sales Strategy.   

Prior to joining the Company, David held a number of financial & non-financial directorships with other manufacturing & engineering organisations. He was latterly Commercial Director at environmental technology leader, AESSEAL plc. There during his tenure, he was directly involved in the global development of the Company & its market-focused growth strategy. This resulted in the expansion of direct operations, from 10 to 30+ countries & the tripling of sales.     


Jamie Thums BSc (Hons) IEng MIET
Chief Operating Officer (STEM Ambassador & Chair of NAAME)

Appointed to the Board in March 2012, Jamie is a graduate & time-served Engineer. In addition to working alongside his Board colleagues in the derivation of the Company's Sales Strategy & in forging strong stakeholder relationships, Jamie is also responsible for directing Production, Site Services, HRM & Business Assurance functions. As an accomplished Lean Practitioner, Jamie is also charged with developing the Company’s continuous improvement strategy.

Jamie has spent 20+ years in Manufacturing; formerly at exemplar mechanical seal manufacturer, AESSEAL plc. There, he was General Manager of 2 autonomous business units & Corporate Head of Excellence.   In 2009, AESSEAL plc was awarded the coveted UK Excellence Award.  Key headlines included compound sales growth of 20%, 95%+ customer satisfaction rate, exports to 100+ countries & numerous accolades including “Climate Change Champion” (Business in the Community’s Environmental Index).   


Mark Davy
Director (STEM Ambassador & Chair of GNMG)  

Gaining an HNC in Electrical Engineering following the successful completion of an apprenticeship with Thermos, Mark quickly became the engineering champion for process automation. To further develop his project management skills, Mark subsequently joined Lark Electrical, which was followed by SGMI.

Mark first joined the Company in 1998. He quickly transferred to the Sales Function where he excelled. In 2005 he left to join ABB as Water Industry Manager (UK).

Mark was lured back to the Company in 2008. Following a number of internal operational roles, he was appointed to the Board in 2010 reflecting his broad & in-depth experience. Mark is primarily responsible for directing the functions of Systems Integration, Proposals & Project Management.


Andrew Pilkington BTech (Hons)
Director of Digital Delivery
 

Andrew, who has a Bachelor of Technology in Electronic & Engineering gained from Bradford University joined the Company in 1997. After a period of time in the role of Test / Commissioning Engineer, Andrew’s comprehensive technical knowledge provided the basis for rapid promotion. 

Andrew’s vast array of experience & leadership of the Systems Integration Team has enabled the business to deliver some of the most challenging & large-scale ICA / SCADA projects. Today Andrew is responsible for leading activities associated with digital delivery.  This includes ICT as well as the creation of Industry-leading digital applications.     


Andy McCormick BEng (Hons) 
Director of Engineering 

With over 30 years’ experience, Andy is the lead & authority for technical design, product content, technical & legislative compliance, value engineering & innovation.

Andy is a time-served & graduate engineer.  He served a 3-year marine apprenticeship with the Merchant Navy followed by various engineering & technical management roles in the Manufacturing & the Oil & Gas sectors.  This involved considerable work overseas in technically demanding & fast-moving environments.  His prior management roles include Technical Manager (with global responsibility) at AESSEAL plc.


Frances Davis
HRM Manager

Frances joined the Company in October 1978 initially as Secretarial Service Manager. Frances quickly gained experience working with the Senior Management Team & began to specialise in Human Resources, which was followed by completing a formal CIPD qualification.

Frances is responsible for the development of the Company’s tools & procedures for the selection, training, assessment, & development of colleagues, while also seeking to further develop a culture of employee engagement.
