Head of Systems Integration

This key leadership role is responsible for defining, managing and co-ordinating resources and processes to bring together subsystems and software applications to function together as a complete system – satisfying specification, lead-time and budget requirements. The successful candidate will be a seasoned people manager with notable experience in Network / PLC and SCADA programming, defining systems architecture, systems development cycle (including the writing and development of Functional Design Specifications and Test Plans) and Project Management.

The key objectives of the appointment are to:-

1. Provide leadership and guidance technically, commercially and managerially for the SI Department and where applicable, other departments. Coach and motivate team members to achieve their optimum performance levels and personal development.

2. Work together with SI team members and those from other departments to plan and execute projects / work activities. Ensure that team members have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction and resources to deliver solutions efficiently and in line with contractual and business requirements. Case in point is lead-time and commercial.

3. Own and develop local financial budgets, reporting and measures of performance.

4. Manage capacity and day-to-day managerial issues. Track and report capacity / resource consumption, acting as the gateway through which work is assigned to appropriate teams, whilst ensuring that project / the schedule of work is adequately defined.

5. Serve as the technical lead role, demonstrating expert knowledge of Control Systems and the system development cycle / process. 

6. Continually demonstrate an ability to interpret and understand customers software / system requirements.

7. Continually evolve products, architectures and solutions. Liaise with customers and suppliers accordingly.

8. Develop and maintain a Departmental Plan, ensuring compliance and departmental performance therein.

9. Develop knowledge, which is subsequently embedded within the process and knowledge systems to continuously improve and inform decision making.

10. Champion internal process development, identifying and removing waste / non-value added activities.

11. Ensure full compliance with the Companys Business Assurance Standards in all relevant reporting, documentation, record keeping and procedures.

12. Possess strong and effective inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and personnel.

13. When necessary, undertake specific scalability and portability analysis.

14. Ensure the personal safety and safe working environment of staff.

15. Be a mentor to departmental personnel, ensuring that team members are informed of tailored individual targets and objectives and training needs. Ensure that associated training events are implemented.

16. Provide sales support, assist with Framework submissions and participate in customer Technical Forums.

17. Attend customers sites / business locations whenever required, always upholding the Companys Culture and Values.

18. Lead excellent working practices, including:

Experience

·  Minimum of 3 years management / leadership experience within a customer centric software / Systems Integration environment.

·   Knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems and system development cycle (inc. FDS and Test Plans).

·   Knowledge of electrical systems / drawings.

·  Strong leadership and project management skills.

·  Commercial awareness.

·  Health and Safety awareness.

·  Excellent IT skills – including, but not limited to, Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Databases.

·  Mechanical skills and understanding.

·  Experience within the Automotive, Food and Beverage and / or Water and Waste industries.

Attainments

·   Educated to a minimum of a HNC (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical / Electronic Engineering.

·  Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electrical / Electronic Engineering.

·    Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats to internal and external environments.
